Tumaini Project

To date 59 children between the age of 2 – 17 years live in the Tumaini Children’s Home, children and teenagers who have lost their families to the HIV virus and/ or are infected themselves. 2/3 of the children are HIV positive, 6 children additionally suffer from Tuberculosis. Other accompanying diseases, like skin disorders or chronic otitis media are common.

For infants “HIV positive” does not imply a death sentence anymore. With adequate support and as long as a regular intake of medication and sufficient food is ensured, the children are able to live a normal life.

In the following we will present the Tumaini Children’s Home and the work of our development association.

The TWFV also supports the Kikambala Feeding project with a yearly grant for years; most recently with 4.000 Euros in 2013. Furthermore, we could enable the physically disabled members of the Shanzu Transitional Workshop for Disabled Young Women (currently 40 young women) to set up a physiotherapeutic exercise room. The monthly expenses of 100 Euros for 12 hours of physiotherapy per week are also subsidized by the TWFV.

With the sponsorship of many people, particularly in Germany, the numerous projects could be initiated and sustained. We warmly thank all the sponsors and kindly ask you – especially in the name of the children – to continue your valuable and loyal support.

As we do not pass any administrative expenses over to our donations account, we can ensure you that every payment will exclusively benefit the affected children. Donation receipts are issued.

We thank you for your concern and your support.
