How to volunteer at Tumaini Childrens Home (TCH)
Volunteers from all over the world are most welcome. Their help is appreciated very much by the children as well as by all members of the staff.
There are various fields of activity where volunteers may support the children and adolescents of TCH:
- in the Home
- at Sirio School
- at Tumaini Clinic
There is a fully furnished 2 bedroom apartment which can accomodate 4 people at the home where volunteers can stay (1.500KSh/day). Meals are provided together with the children.
For people who just want to come and volunteer at the home, a payment of a small fee per week (USD 50) will be charged. From those people coming to do a proper internship, an amount of USD 100/week will be charged. The money is used only for the running expenses of the Home.
List of documents required to be presented by volunteers:
- Curriculum Vitae
- Copy of passport
- Full contact details in mothercountry and Kenya
- Certificate of good conduct obtained from the police or any other authorizing body
- Copy of qualifications if applicable
- 1 passport size photograph
If a volunteership of more than 3 month is planned a work visa has to be organized via embassy or consulate office, otherwise a holiday visa (USD 50 payable when entering the country) is sufficient.
